Glossom terms of use
Effective date: To decide set at publication
Last updated: To decide set at publication
These terms are an agreement between you and the independent developer of Glossom, based in the United States ("Glossom", "we", "us"), about your use of the Glossom app. By using Glossom you agree to them. Please read section 1 first: it explains what Glossom's dates, levels and scores mean. Lawyer whether the terms must name the party: the developer's legal name, or a registered trade name such as "Glossom".
1. Dates, levels and scores are estimates
Glossom's dates, levels and exam scores are estimates. They come from the work you complete in the app and from published comparisons between exam scales, and they are not a prediction or guarantee of your result on any exam. Your score depends on many things outside Glossom's control, including the exam itself, the conditions on the day and how you prepare outside the app. Glossom is not affiliated with or endorsed by any test maker; TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, PTE, the Duolingo English Test, CELPIP and Cambridge English are trademarks of their owners.
In the app you will see the short form of this under your path's date: "Dates, levels and scores are estimates from your study path, not a promise of your exam result."
A date in Glossom says when the course work for your targets should be done at the time you chose each day. It does not say when you will be ready for your exam or what you will score.
Lawyer whether this section needs further wording, for example that Glossom gives no advice about admissions, visas or employment that depend on an exam result.
2. What Glossom is
Glossom is a study app for English exams. It has six courses (vocabulary and expressions, grammar, reading, listening, speaking and writing), each with 20 levels, and gives you a daily path of sessions toward the target scores you choose. It includes level tests, practice that comes back on a schedule, AI feedback on your speaking and writing, and word games called Challenges.
Glossom is a learning tool. It is not an exam, it does not give official scores, and it is not run by or connected to any test maker.
3. Who can use Glossom
Glossom is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. This is because Glossom's AI feedback comes from Google's Gemini model, and Google does not allow it to be used in apps for people under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we delete their account.
Lawyer whether this and the 18+ App Store rating are enough to show that Glossom is neither directed to nor likely to be used by people under 18.
Glossom is offered in the countries where the App Store lists it. At launch these do not include the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. You may use Glossom only where it is lawful for you to do so.
4. Your account
A guest account from the start. The first time Glossom has a connection, it creates an account for you without asking you to sign in, so your progress is kept and you can start the free trial. You can sign in later with Apple, Google or a code sent to your email, and add more than one way to sign in. Everything you did as a guest stays with you when you sign in.
Signing in to an account you already have. If you sign in to an account that already has progress, what you learned as a guest is added to it, and the account keeps its own exam, targets, daily time and starting levels.
Keep your account safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your devices and your Apple, Google or email accounts secure. Tell us at support@glossom.app if you think someone else has used it.
Guest accounts that are not used. If you never sign in and do not use Glossom for twelve months, your guest account and its progress are deleted.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time from You in the app, or by writing to support@glossom.app. This deletes your progress on our server within 24 hours and cannot be undone. It does not cancel a subscription: cancel that in your Apple Account settings.
5. Subscription and free trial
Through Apple. In the iPhone and iPad app, subscriptions are bought and billed through Apple's App Store under Apple's terms. We never see your payment details. At launch Glossom has one plan: a monthly subscription, US$24.99 a month in the United States. Prices in other countries are set for each country and may differ. The app and the App Store show the price in your currency before you buy.
One subscription, your devices. A subscription belongs to your Glossom account. Once you are signed in, it works on your iPhone and iPad. Add when released and on Android and the web. Family Sharing is not available for Glossom's subscription.
Free trial. New users can start a free trial of seven days, also as a guest. The trial includes speaking and writing feedback, up to the trial's daily limit (section 6). Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged. If you buy a subscription during the trial, the rest of the trial ends.
Renewal and cancelling. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Lawyer confirm this matches Apple's current required disclosures.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Lawyer any statutory refund or cancellation rights in the countries where Glossom is offered, and how they apply to purchases made through Apple.
Without a subscription. If you have no trial or subscription, or after one ends, you keep your level test results, your path and your progress to look at, the reviews that are due, and the word games (Challenges). New lessons, sessions and AI feedback need an active trial or subscription.
Price changes. Lawyer how price changes are notified; Apple notifies subscribers of increases under its own rules.
6. AI feedback
What it is. When you finish a spoken answer or a piece of writing, Glossom sends it to Google's Gemini AI model, which returns feedback: what worked, what to fix and why, and your answer improved at your level. The level tests use AI the same way to suggest your starting level in speaking and writing.
We ask first. Before your first answer is sent, the app asks your permission. If you say no, you can use the rest of Glossom and set your starting levels in speaking and writing yourself. How your answers are handled is in our privacy policy.
It can be wrong. AI feedback is produced automatically and can contain mistakes. It is meant to help you practise. It is not an exam score, not an official assessment and not a teacher's judgement. Use your own judgement, and the official materials of your exam, before relying on it.
When it does not work. Feedback needs an internet connection. If the AI does not answer, Glossom says so and lets you try again. It never shows made-up feedback, and a failed request does not count toward your daily limit.
Daily limits. To keep Glossom affordable for everyone, speaking and writing feedback has a daily limit, counted per account and per day in your time zone: currently To confirm 60 sessions a day with a subscription and To confirm 20 during the trial. A device that cannot confirm it is running the genuine Glossom app may get fewer. The level tests' ratings do not count toward it. We may change these limits Lawyer with what notice. When you reach the day's limit, feedback is back the next day, and your path gives you other work in the meantime.
Using AI feedback well. Please:
- send only your own answers to Glossom's tasks;
- not include other people's personal information, or anything about yourself you would not want processed by our AI providers;
- not send content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing or sexually explicit;
- not try to make the feedback do anything other than give feedback on your answer, or to get around the daily limits, for example with scripts, automated requests or extra accounts;
- not present Glossom's feedback as an official score or a teacher's assessment.
We may limit or suspend AI feedback on accounts that break these rules.
How your recordings and writing are handled is explained in our privacy policy: recordings are deleted once the feedback comes back; your writing and the feedback are kept with your progress.
7. Acceptable use
You may use Glossom for your own, personal, non-commercial study. You must not:
- copy, extract, collect, sell or share Glossom's lessons, questions, audio, pictures or games, or use them to build another product;
- take apart or modify the app, except where the law allows it;
- interfere with Glossom, its server or its security, including the checks that confirm the genuine app is in use;
- use Glossom in a way that breaks the law or harms other people.
8. Your content
Your answers, your writing and your recordings stay yours. You allow us to store, copy and process them, and to send them to the service providers listed in our privacy policy, only as needed to run Glossom for you: to give you feedback, keep your progress and sync it to your devices. We may also use answers anonymously and in aggregate, together with many other learners' answers, to tune Glossom: for example, how hard a question or a level test is, or how long a timer in the word games should be. We never sell your answers and never use them for advertising.
This permission ends when you delete your account, apart from copies in backups until they expire and results already worked out from many learners' answers together, which do not identify you.
You confirm that you have the right to send what you send us.
9. Glossom's content and trademarks
Glossom's lessons, questions, explanations, audio, illustrations, games, software and design, and the Glossom name and logo, belong to Glossom's developer or to those who licensed them to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the app and its content for your own study, under these terms.
TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, PTE, the Duolingo English Test, CELPIP and Cambridge English are trademarks of their owners, who do not endorse Glossom. We use their names only to say which exams Glossom helps you prepare for.
Lawyer the owners' own notice wording, for example ETS's for TOEFL and TOEIC ("registered trademarks of ETS; this product is not endorsed or approved by ETS"), the ® at the first mention, and each owner named: ETS, the IELTS Partners, Pearson, Duolingo, Paragon Testing Enterprises and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. The same applies to question 78's full text, which is the master's to change.
10. Updates and changes to Glossom
Most of Glossom works without a connection. Parts of the app and its lessons may update automatically when you are online, and an update takes effect the next time you open the app. Some updates need a new version from the App Store; we support older versions for at least six months after a newer one is released, after which you may need to update to keep using AI feedback, sign-in and sync.
We may add, change or remove features, and may switch off a feature that is not working properly while we fix it. We try to keep Glossom available, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Glossom and delete your account at any time (section 4).
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or to protect Glossom or other users. Lawyer notice, and what happens to a paid subscription in that case.
Sections 1, 8 (for backups), 9, 12, 13 and 15 continue after your use ends.
12. Disclaimers
Lawyer warranty disclaimers ("as is"), within what consumer law allows in each region. Must be read with section 1 and section 14.
13. Limitation of liability
Lawyer the limitation of liability and its cap, within what consumer law allows in each region; any indemnity.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited by contract. Lawyer confirm.
14. Apple
Lawyer Glossom keeps Apple's standard licence agreement for apps, and these terms are linked from the App Store description, the paywall and the site (decided 2026-10-06). Check the points below against Apple's current minimum terms, and how these terms sit beside Apple's standard licence agreement.
If you got Glossom from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Glossom and its content.
- Your licence to use Glossom is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service allow, including any use by other accounts through Family Sharing where it applies.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any maintenance and support of Glossom. Apple has no obligation to provide them.
- If Glossom fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Glossom.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about Glossom, including product liability claims, claims that it does not meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If someone claims that Glossom or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo or designated by it as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Questions, complaints or claims about Glossom go to us at the contact details in section 17.
- You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Glossom, for example your mobile data agreement.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
Lawyer point 7 and the founder's own situation; whether any markets need specific wording.
15. Governing law and disputes
To decide governing law and courts or dispute resolution, with the lawyer. Consumers keep the protections of the law where they live where that law requires it.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Glossom after that, the new terms apply. Lawyer notice period; how consent works where the law needs it.
17. Contact

Email: support@glossom.app
Lawyer Apple's minimum terms ask a licence agreement to give the developer's address and phone number for questions and claims (section 14, point 8). With Apple's standard licence agreement kept, whether they must appear here.
When Glossom opens in the EU, EEA and UK
To decide Glossom is not offered in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom at launch. This section is completed when it is, and comes off the published page until then.
Lawyer the consumer's statutory right to withdraw from the contract and to refunds, and how they apply to purchases made through Apple; any wording the consumer laws there require in sections 12 and 13; the postal address and phone number to add to section 17.
